Dreams of Adam
Dreams of Adam Catalogue and Selected Showing
Seven watercolours and five oil paintings from the Dreams of Adam series together with the film Die Diebschlag Monologe are on show to journalists in Germany during October and November 2009. The work is being shown in Wiesbaden as part of the launch of the new Opel Astra.
A catalogue “Dreams of Adam :Poetic Advertising by Hans Diebschlag” / “Träume des Adam :Eine poetische Werbung von Hans Diebschlag” has also been published sponsored by Opel. The colour catalogue, in both German and English, includes the entire 24 picture series plus the six pictures commissioned by Opel in 2006 for the US Launch of the new Opel GT.
The catalogue includes an essay by art historian Jorg Scheller “Beyond Either/Or : How Hans Diebschlag portrays the double life of things in consumer culture, and seeks reconciliation between ethics and aesthetics” and a foreword by Frank Klaas General Director of Opel/Vauxhall Communications.
The exhibition and catalogue have been curated by Dagmar Eichhorn and without the continuing support and work of Dagmar this long project, first started 2004, would never have come to fruition. Many thanks to Dagmar for all her hard work and thanks also to all those in Opel, especially in Communications, who contributed in bringing to life The Dreams of Adam.
The entire Dreams or Adam series of over twenty paintings can be seen in the Dreams of Adam Gallery and where there is more information about Hans in relation to Opel and the film Die Diebschlag Monologe directed by Michael Farquharson.
We hope that an exhibition of the Dreams of Adam series together with a showing of the film will happening in the not too distant future.
